About Me
I'm Taylor Young, a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than three years of clinical experience across telebehavioral health, community mental health, and academic settings, in addition to private practice. I earned my M.A. in Counseling from Sam Houston State University and my B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and I'm trained in Written Exposure Therapy.I work integratively, drawing from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I adapt my approach to the person in front of me. I aim to help clients name exactly what's working in their life and what isn't, then build the specific tools to change the "isn't." Education is part of that. I want clients to leave sessions understanding not just what to do, but why it works.I love to learn, and that curiosity shapes how I work: I'm solution-focused because I want clients to leave sessions with something usable, not just something to think about. But therapy isn't one-directional for me. I learn and grow alongside my clients as much as they do with me, and that reciprocity is part of what makes the work meaningful.
What to Expect
Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, so my goal is to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible. During our first session, we’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your current concerns, and begin identifying the goals you would like to work toward. Ongoing sessions are active and collaborative, combining thoughtful conversation with practical strategies you can apply outside of therapy. We’ll regularly evaluate what is helping and adjust our approach as your needs and goals evolve. All sessions are conducted through secure telehealth for adults and couples located in Texas.
Session availability, accepted insurance plans, and self-pay information can be viewed through my Headway profile.
